Why Become an AYSO Referee?
Every team in Region 630 is required to have both an assigned coach and at least 10 referee points to qualify for playoffs.
That means we need parents and volunteers like you to step in and help! Each game you officiate—whether as the Center Ref or as an Assistant Referee—counts for 1 point,
and you can easily credit your points directly to your child’s team in Matchtrak.
The good news? Getting started as a referee is easy and fun. New refs begin as Assistant Referees,
helping the center ref with simple calls like out-of-bounds and offsides. You’ll quickly gain confidence, stay active on the field,
and enjoy the best seat in the house while making the game safe and fair for every player.
- Start Simple: Ease into refereeing with supportive training and AR duties.
- Earn Points for Your Team: Every game you ref brings your child’s team closer to playoff eligibility.
- Support the Players: Referees make the game safe, fair, and fun for everyone.
- Give Back: Volunteering as a referee is one of the most rewarding ways to support your soccer community.
- Flexible & Fun: Choose when and where you ref, meet great people, and be part of the action.
